A short description of the EEE department

Bangladesh is advancing at a high pace to lead the twenty-first-century industrial revolution. In the biggest engineering companies like Walton, government projects like Metro rail, BRT, Nuclear Power Plants, Rampal Coal Power Plants, thousands of Electrical Engineers are required in the next 5 years. For meeting the challenges of 21st century in electronics, power and communication sectors, the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Green University of Bangladesh is committed to produce the vibrant effort within the national as well as International arena.

The EEE department of the Green University of Bangladesh incepted since 2003 is one of the largest EEE departments in the country with 1700+ students, 50+faculty members among which 8 Ph.D. holders and 3 under completion. As recognition of experienced teachers, up to date syllabus, quality labs, libraries, classrooms and strong management, the department is IEB accredited with OBE based curriculum in place. We are one of the pioneers in research and have organized one of the biggest STI 2019 conferences in Bangladesh.

The EEE Department encourages various extra and co-curricular activities through its departmental club, namely EEE Club that organizes study tours, seminars, workshops etc. on regular basis. Besides, the EEE department also offers a short course on Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) in every semester. EEE department run successfully mentorship program which helps the students to be adapted in the university from the very beginning of their admission.

To ensure the quality education, the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is well equipped with modern infrastructural facilities, updated course curriculum, air-conditioned class rooms, libraries and enriched laboratories. Top reasons to study BSc in EEE:

Electrical & Electronic Engineering deals with the study and real-world application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. Practiced since the 1800s, it’s the forefront of new technologies in a number of industries including transport, healthcare, construction and robotics.

If you enjoy mathematics and science, are fascinated by energy and electronic gadgets, and want to design and invent things that benefit others, you may wish to study an Electrical & Electronic Engineering degree.

Reasons to study EEE:

  1. You’ll develop the skills highly sought after in a world where graduate job markets are unpredictable and tough. What with the rapid expansion of the technology sector, the demand for those who can create, understand and alter electrical control systems has risen accordingly.
  2. Computing, for one, is constantly evolving and therefore innovative new thinkers are required to configure new ideas and pave the way in electronics. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a corner of the globe where electrical engineers are not needed, and salaries can be pretty good for the subject area.
  3. Electrical engineering jobs represent over 25% of all available jobs in engineering! A good number of government jobs are from Electrical Engineering sector like power generation, distribution, transmission, manufacturing, utilization, etc.
  4. A EEE student can enter in to the job market of Computer engineering, Electronics & communication engineering, Instrumentation engineering, control engineering, robotics, mechanical engineering, VHDL, VLSI. But any branch of other engineering student cannot enter in to the Electrical Engineering job market.
  5. Other than conventional Electrical Engineering jobs, Electrical engineers are well positioned to address a variety of the crucial engineering issues facing societies today. They cover a wide variety of applications like information, health, signal processing, telecommunications, wireless communications and networking, Sensors, Microwave, and Image Processing, Micro-Electronics, Energy Systems and Power Electronics, Nano-Electronics and Nano-Optics, Plasma Processing, Laser and Photonics, MEMS, CAD, and Microsystems, Biomedical Engineering and much more.
  6. Reduce our carbon footprint by developing renewable energy solutions, roll out smart energy grids, and design hybrid and all-electric vehicles. Through the study of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, you could make a difference to society.
  7. Another reason why you should pursue this field of study is that you probably will not get sick of it. You will always get introduced to new tech every now and then as a better version of all the electrical gadgets you find today are being developed. Not only will you witness it, you will get the chance to work on new tech during testing and assembly.
  8. Practical skills for everyday life: Like we said, studying engineering breeds a specialised skill set, and this is something that can be beneficial beyond a career. Being capable at physics and maths is useful, and studying a degree in electrical engineering imparts practical skills that can aid you in a number of everyday situations, such as tax returns and household jobs. More directly, skills in electronics are useful for rewiring circuits around a home and, if computing is your area of expertise, you will likely be apt at repairing many digital appliances too.

Career opportunity and higher study options in the EEE department:

Bangladesh is advancing at a high pace to lead the twenty-first-century industrial revolution. In the biggest engineering companies like Walton, government projects like Metro rail, BRT, Nuclear Power Plants, Rampal Coal Power Plants, thousands of Electrical Engineers are required in the next 5 years. Also, the telecom companies require a huge number of EEE Engineers every year. For meeting the challenges of 21st century in electronics, power and communication sectors, the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Green University of Bangladesh is committed to produce the vibrant effort within the national as well as International arena.

If someone’s thirst for knowledge persists, there are plenty of opportunities for higher studies also. After completing the B.Sc. degree, they can pursue an M.Sc. or a PhD degree. Different Public and Private universities offer M.Sc. degree in EEE and some also offer PhD degree. If someone wishes to go for higher studies in abroad there are also scopes of scholarships, fellowships and different assistantships. Universities in USA, Canada, Australia, Europe, China, Japan, Malaysia are offering these scholarships to the deserving candidates. EEE graduates are earning their higher education from different countries like USA, Canada, Germany, Australia, China, Netherland, Belgium, Brazil and many more.

To enhance quality education, GUB signed a collaboration exchange program with the University of Regina, Canada; University of Huddersfield, UK; Wuhan Textile University, China; and Beijing Language & Cultural University (BLCU), China for both teachers and students in 2011, 2013 and 2014 respectively. Many more collaboration efforts are under process. Under the exchange programs, the students of GUB can transfer their credits to foreign universities; faculties can exchange research work and share experiences; curricula can be developed.
